Gaston Crime Watch meetings are held at the Civic Center in the Kitchen at 131 North Carlisle Street in Gaston every third Thursday of the month at 7pm.

Town of Gaston holds Council meetings the first Tuesday of every month. These meetings are open to the public and are held at 186 North Carlisle Street, Gaston Police Department at 7pm.

2013 Gaston Collard & BBQ Festival October 4th and 5th, 2013

Come join us and enjoy the festivities. On Friday October 4th, 2013 will be having an Auction at 7 pm., free rides for the kids and the Barbeque Competition.

For all those that would like to come and fill out an application to be a part of the Barbeque Competition. Meat will be provided by the Town of Gaston. Cash prizes and other prizes will be awarded to the winners. Set up time Friday, October 4, starting at 10am and in place by 5pm at Town Hall, 131 North Carlisle Street in Gaston. Electricity and water will be provided. Call 803-796-7725 for more information. Fill out application and fax to 803-739-5793.

On Saturday October 5th will be the Festival’s Parade at 10 am., after the parade will begin the Live Entertainment at the outdoor stage and in the auditorium, more free rides for the kids, an Antique Car and Tractor display, Karaoke, the award ceremony for the Barbeque Competition winners and much more.

And of course lets not forget the Collard and Barbeque plates will be available in the kitchen on Saturday from 11:30 until…….

Officer Shawn Mohundro gets promoted to Sergeant

Gaston Police Chief John P. Regalis along with The Gaston Town Council showed their appreciation for the hard work and dedication that has been displayed by Officer Shawn Mohundro by promoting him to the rank of Sergeant in a small ceremony during the Town Council meeting on Feb. 7th. Officer Mohundro was presented a plaque of appreciation and awarded his new sergeant’s badge for his service. Officer Mohundro has been with the Gaston Police Department since November of 2010, just after it’s re-opening for service. Chief Regalis, who is a resident of the town stated” We all know the residents of our community love our town but it is hard to find someone who does not live here that shares our feeling for our town the way we do. Officer Mohundro is an exception. He shares our love and commitment for Gaston and it is evident by his hard work and positive feedback from our business owners and our residents, we thank him for it.”

The town of Gaston is forming a Planning Committee and needs Town residents to volunteer to be part of this committee.

The job of these committee is to ensure that the growth of the Town is regulated, to promote economic health, and improve the quality of life for all of the town’s residents.

The committee will meet once a month on a regular basis to consider issues of interest, including permit applications; these meetings will be open to the public.
